A recent report conducted by analytical firm Gartner indicates that the video games industry is worth, as of this year, a staggering $74 billion.
Tuong Nguyen, the principle research analyst explained how smartphones and tablets are responsible for this figure: "As the popularity of smartphones and tablets continues to expand, gaming will remain a key component in the use of these devices.
"Mobile games are the most downloaded application category across most application stores. For this reason, mobile gaming will continue to thrive as more consumers expand their use of new and innovative portable connected devices."
What's even more interesting, is that the report predicted that by the year 2015, the industry will be worth an impressive $115 billion.
