Mojang, the masterminds behind the ongoing sensation Minecraft, have announced their new third-party title, Cobalt. Developed by Oxeye Game Studios, the game is a huge step away from the simplicity of a full-scale block building exercise but it's looking good nonetheless.
The only question is. What is it?
Below is a quote that Joystiq.com managed to grab detailing the story but it still doesn't help explain what is going on.
"It's hard to be a metal face. Agent Cobalt has learned as much after finding the Space Exploration Foundation's lost colonization ship The Seed at planet X9CSEC5.5B-blue, Trunkopia. It was once built by a one million strong development team back on Earth, but disappeared merely 30 minutes after its subspace jump. Whatever happened on board during its misadventure, sanity was not invited."
Besides the slightly eccentric story, the game has an interesting art style as well as confusing gameplay, it's not quite clear what genre the game falls into, but looks like a joy to play. With elements of platforming, shooting, combat and puzzles, Cobalt may turn out to be a blend of all of these that fans may want to keep an eye on.
