EA Sports' NHL 12 has smashed its predecessors' sales records, recording the best ever opening week sales ever seen for the franchise.
EA today boasted that its latest entry into the NHL franchise marked a 19 percent year-on-year sales increase over previous entries into the series. The company later clarified that the game had taken in more than $27 million through retail sales.
"The fan response to NHL 12 has been incredible, and we're delighted to expand the franchise to Facebook next month," commented Executive Vice President of EA Sports, Andrew Wilson. "NHL 12 is our most exciting hockey game ever, with more than 300 gameplay improvements and the ability to play with some of the NHL's greatest legends."
The statistics mentioned in the report referred to sales of the game in the seven days immediately following its September 13 North American and September 9 European release dates.
