Aside from the unfortunate end of its free to play period, there's a bit of good news for Final Fantasy XIV fans as Square Enix are still planning on releasing the MMO on the PS3.
PS3 players will actually receive a different version of the game titled "Final Fantasy XIV Online Version 2.0". This version will integrate with the current version with beta testing starting between October and December 2012. FFXIV's Producer/Director, Naoki Yoshida says, "Among our new plans is the fundamental reworking of in-game maps."
Don't expect this version any time soon though as the release date is slated for some time in 2013, but the news is still exciting nonetheless.
