In preparation for the PlayStation Vita's launch in Japan, Sony is preparing to release PlayStation 3 firmware update 4.00 in order to make it a more a efficient content management system.
Vita owners will be able to transfer games, music, photos and videos between the console and the PlayStation 3. They will also able to backup saved data to the PlayStation 3's hard drive and update the system using the PlayStation 3's network features.
PlayStation plus members will have the option to enable or disable the automatic download service which affects games, patches, firmware updates, recommended games and videos and sync trophy information.
