New reports suggest Sony's recently released Tablet S will be getting an upgrade, making it compatible with the PS3's DualShock 3 controller.

According to tech site Engadget, Sony has confirmed that the company's "new iPad-rival" will soon receive an update, allowing users to play games using the DualShock 3. The update is reportedly already out in the company's native Japan, where -- as well as the DualShock 3 upgrade -- Sony's offering consumers a free download copy of an Ape Escape-themed mini-game collection.

The controller will reportedly automatically sync with the tablet allowing wireless use after one cabled plug-in. Unfortunately, the upgrade is only currently available on the S, not the twin-screened Tablet P. Additionally, to sync the device users will have to by an additional USB adapter cable to connect the DualShock 3 to the S.
