Microsoft has had to inform users that today's scheduled Xbox 360 dashboard update has been slightly delayed. It was scheduled to arrive at 3pm GMT (10am EST), but will now arrive later in the day.

The news was doled out by Xbox Live's director of programming Larry 'Major Nelson' Hyrb as he said on Twitter "FYI: the timing for Xbox 360 dashboard update has been slightly delayed. I'll have a status update later today."

The update includes voice search for Microsoft's Kinect peripheral, while also including more entertainment services from companies such as Netflix, MSNBC, Hulu Plus and ESPN. There is also a new "social" section, which will replace "My Xbox."

To round out the update, Microsoft will be releasing a free Xbox Companion app for those users who also have a Windows Phone.
