Sony's new CEO in France has declared that the company aren't under any pressure to announce their next move, stating that they will probably be the company that's last to announce their next console.
Nintendo recently announced that the Nintendo Wii U would be released before the end of the year and speculation has been rife that Microsoft will announce their successor to the Xbox 360 at some point this year. However, when speaking to French publication Le Point, newly promoted PlayStation France CEO Philippe Cardon said Sony were under a "lot less pressure" than their rivals.
Many analysts believe Sony will want to put their console to market before Microsoft, but Cardon's statements rather contradict this. Cardon also stated that 2011 was a "very good year" for the PlayStatio 3, as it was the best selling console in France, ahead of the Nintendo Wii. The Xbox 360 was the third best selling.
Either way, it's going to be a rather interesting year, as Nintendo are looking to get the next console generation into full swing.
