Microsoft has announced that the BBC's iPlayer application is finally available on the Xbox 360 and that it will be available as a free service for everyone.

The application will be rolled out to all Xbox 360 consoles throughout today for those who live in the United Kingdom and if you've got Kinect, you'll be treated to a much more interactive interface.

You'll be able to navigate through the iPlayer by waving your hands around, which some have stated is the first time that a remote control or controller of any kind actually becomes redundant due to Kinect.

This means the iPlayer is now available on all three of the major home consoles, as well as a host of other streaming applications, which are either free like the iPlayer, or a premium service like LoveFilm.
