BioWare has launched a a major Mass Effect 3 patch on the PC, with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions appearing later today.

One of the major fixes comes with a bug that prevented players from importing faces for a character that was generated in Mass Effect 1 or Mass Effect 2. This caused a lot of frustration for gamers who wanted to carry on the tale as "their" Shepard.

There were also fixes to the following issues: the unresponsive game state after the Conduit level, character level being reset if a save was selected quickly and repeatedly and an unresponsive game state if multiplayer was accessed with a poor internet connection.

BioWare has recently announced that they will be releasing two lots of free downloadable content for the game. The first arrives in the form of the Resurgence Pack, which will expand the multiplayer component of the game.

The second piece of downloadable content will arrive in the form of "Extended Cut", which will be BioWare's answer to the entire debacle surrounding the ending, and the fact that no choice you made throughout the entire series will have any impact on anything that happens.
