If this year's Gamescom feels a little empty, it might be because Nintendo, one of the industry's biggest companies, has chosen not to go.
Gamescom, a convention equivalent to E3 that's hosted in Germany, is open to both industry professionals as well as the general public. Both Nintendo and Gamescom have yet to provide a reason for the no-show, however, Nintendo has made plans to hold events all over Germany which may be a big factor. They did something similar at last year in Japan following their no-show at the Tokyo Game Show.
This year Gamescom will take place August 15th to the 19th and will open for the general public August 16th to the 19th.
