Blizzard has revealed that its newly released game, Diablo 3, has managed to smash PC sales records by shifting over 3.5 million copies in its first 24 hours on sale.
What's even more impressive is that this doesn't include a further 1.2 million gamers who acquired the game via World of Warcraft's Annual Pass.
These figures helped Blizzard smash the record, making it the biggest PC launch in history. Since then, the game has managed to accrue more than 6.3 million sales, showing that gamers were definitely willing to wait as long as it took for Blizzard to release their games.
"We're definitely thrilled that so many people around the world were excited to pick up their copy of Diablo III and jump in the moment it went live," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment.
