Minecraft On Xbox 360 Breaks XBLA Sales Record

Minecraft on the Xbox 360 has smashed the platform's day-one digital sales records, taking the mantel away from Trials Evolution, which launched last month.

The game's creator, Markus 'Notch' Persson, stated that the game had become profitable within an hour of it going on sale, so its profit margins must be through the roof now.

Despite the positive news, Polytron, the developer behind Fez, were unhappy with perceived preferential treatment for Mojang. The developer stated that they don't have any idea how much their game has sold, even after a month later.

Either way, this release will be seen as a massive coup for Microsoft as they look to push the digital space on Xbox 360 even further. Could this see a resurgence of Xbox Live Arcade?
