Maxis has stated that they will be sticking by their "always online" policy in SimCity by claiming that they have no intention of making it playable offline any time soon.

Speaking during a Q&A session on Twitter, Lucy Bradshaw, who's the SVP over at Maxis said: "We have no intention of offlining SimCity any time soon, but we'll look into that as part of our earning back your trust efforts."

The issues arose due to SimCity suffering from terrible server issues during its launch. It meant that despite owning the game, many people simply couldn't play it because the servers were under too much strain.

Bradshaw tried to put a positive spin on this by stating that since launch "our players have been able to connect to their cities in the game for nearly 8 million hours of gameplay time and we've reduced game crashes by 92 percent."

However, as compensation for all of this, EA has decided to offer people who bought SimCity a free game from the EA portfolio.
