Sony has confirmed that PlayStation Plus, it's premium service on the PlayStation Network, will have a "prominent role" to play when the PS4 releases towards the end of this year.
The news came from a recent interview with Jim Ryan, the boss at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, as said: "We definitely see that as a core part of the way forward. We're not yet in a position to disclose our plans for the future of PlayStation Plus, but there will definitely be a prominent role to play for it in the PlayStation 4 landscape."
Ryan also noted that revenue from PlayStation Plus had trebled in the last year, with more and more gamers subscribing to the service. There are numerous free games offered every month as part of the service, which requires a monthly subscription fee.
