The latest entry in the Batman: Arkham series, Batman: Arkham Origins has been officially unveiled on the cover of the next issue of Game Informer. Rocksteady Games who made Arkham Asylum/City will no longer be developing this title and a new studio, Warner Brothers Games Montreal.
Arkham Origins will take place years before the previous games and will have you playing as a younger, unrefined Batman. The game will take place in Gotham City on Christmas eve as Batman will have to take down many villains for the first time. The first villain announced is Deathstroke, who has never made an appearance in any past Arkham games.
The game will release on October 25, 2013 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U. This is not the only Arkham game announced either, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will be the first portable title in the series. Blackgate will be a 3DS and Vita on the same day as the console version. Armature Studio is behind this new portable title that will be similar to the 2.5-D Metroidvania style game.
It is nice to not only get one, but two new Batman games in one year and there was no talk of next gen release either. Does a non Rocksteady Games Batman worry you at all? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
