Update: As a surprise to none of the skeptics out there and heartbreaking to everyone else, this news was the act of an April Fools joke. The image used below is a reworked image and you can see the original image below. Feel free to leave all of your hate for this awful holiday in the comments below!

Original: Square Enix held a private conference during GDC 2013 and during it Shinji Hashimoto announced Kingdom Hearts Project <3. This latest project is the heavily anticipated Kingdom Hearts 3 and apparently been in production for a long time.

Here is the small amount of information we know already about Project <3:
-It's release will be sometime after Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix

-The game has been in production for some time.

-The code name of the project is "Project <3"

-Several rumored worlds to appear are Agrabah (Princes of Thieves maybe?) and Andy's Room (Toy
Story). They are currently looking into adding a couple more Pixar worlds.

-The title will feature Sora, Riku, Donald, and Goofy as playable characters. Kairi is also rumored
to be playable but the current aspect is unknown.

-"Newer" Final Fantasy characters will make an appearance as cameos. (Final Fantasy XII & XIII)

This announcement may be just what some have been waiting for, but still leaves many questions open. Such as what platform will it be on and what team is working on this with Final Fantasy Versus XIII still in the works?

Some could even view this as the companies last chance to turn things around after recent financial troubles and Yoichi Wada stepping down from the company. What do you think of the announcement and where would you like to see Kingdom Hearts 3 on? Let us know in the comments below and also take a look at our recent feature talking about how Square Enix is handling Kingdom Hearts.
