For years, upon years thousands of EarthBound/Mother fans have begged Nintendo to release the game on Virtual Console since the Wii released in 2006. No the time has finally come and Nintendo is bringing the SNES RPG classic EarthBound to the North American and Europe through the Wii U virtual Console.

The game will release sometime in 2013 and not much else information was given about the re-release. EarthBound is also known as Mother 2 in Japan and has gained a massive cult following over the years after only one game releasing outside of Japan. The original game is full of references to American pop culture and even includes some songs that are basically covers of other band songs.

Nintendo has been weary about releasing the game again as to not upset anyone looking to sue, but who knows what changed their mind. The fans have been as determined as ever, at least something finally came out of all this outcry. Are you excited to see EarthBound finally make a comeback on Virtual Console? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
