Nintendo has released a new firmware update for the Nintendo Wii U, which brings the console's software version up to 3.0.0 U.
Firmware update 3.0.0 U brings major changes to the platform in many different areas. New features include a standby function so that you can download and install software even when the system is powered off. Any software that's updated will also install automatically in the background once the download has completed.
In other places, there were core changes to the System Settings. You now have the option to transfer between USB storage devices. You can also choose to transfer, copy or delete multiple pieces of software at the same time.
With the Miiverse, Nintendo has added additional support for the Wii Remote, Wii U Pro Controller and Classic Controller. There are also changes to the Handwritten posts, with the option to undo and redo.
Software that has been downloaded from the eShop will now include all previous software releases. Users will no longer need to download any updates after it's installed.
Update 3.0.0 U also included changes to the Wii U's Internet Browser, how downloads work and general system stability and usability tweaks.
