It's been revealed that Sony Santa Monica chose to pull the plug on some future characters for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale for fears that they wouldn't sell.
One character that's known about is Dart from the Legend of Dragoon. He was intended to be released as a DLC character, but Sony Santa Monica didn't finish him off. His potential addition was discovered by looking at the portfolio of Mike Edwards, one of the character designers on PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.
The main reason for this decision is believed to be subpar sales of both Isaac Clarke and Zeus. Following the release of these two, Shuhei Yoshida stated that the game would be receiving no more characters, but didn't rule out DLC in general.
This has come as a huge disappointment to fans, as Dart was believed to be a highly requested character. It's also been rumoured that his corresponding character would have been Abe from Oddworld.
PlayStation All-Stars released towards the end of 2012 and featured many characters that were both exclusive to Sony, but also some that appeared in third-party games. The first wave of downloadable characters included Kat from Gravity Rush and Emmett Graves from Starhawk.
Since its release, the game has gone on to sell more than one million copies globally and there has been talk about a sequel.
