Nintendo and GameFreak have been hard at work to deliver a bevy of new Pokémon X and Pokémon Y related news yesterday at the Nintendo Developer Roundtable. For the first time players will be able to choose between languages to play the game in including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean. The new PSS system (Player Search System) is going to allow players to search for each other locally as well as globally through Wi-Fi to battle and trade. This system will split them up into friends, acquaintances and those that you pass by. It can hold up to 100 friends.
In this second announcement trailer we learn that Sylveon, Eevee's newest evolution, is going to be representing a brand new Pokémon type called the Fairy-type. Other Pokémon such as Gardevoir, Marill, and Jigglypuff will become a Fairy-type in addition to keeping their original types. Fairy-types are super effective against Dragon-types, adding a brand new twist to the gameplay.
A few brand new Pokémon were also shown off in the trailer. The sound wave Pokémon, Noivern, is a Flying/Dragon-type. It will attack anything that wanders fairly close to it and uses the ultrasonic waves it emits from its big ears to attack. Secondly, Vivillon is the signature butterfly Pokémon to this region and is a Bug/Flying-type. It can use the colorful decorative pattern on its wings to create a strong wind to attack.
A new bonding feature for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y was introduced and it is called the Pokémon-Amie. You will be able to use the Nintendo 3DS touch screen as a way of interacting with your Pokémon. Doing this will help strengthen the bond you have with your Pokémon and help in future battles.
The third gameplay trailer introduces Sky Battles and Horde Encounters. Horde Encounters will be a brand new type of wild battle that consists of 5 wild Pokémon against your single Pokémon. These will include battles with 5 of the same Pokémon or a mix different species. Sky Battles will be battles that can only by fought with Flying-types and Levitators such as Haunter.
In addition, three more new Pokémon were revealed: Skrelp, a Poison/Water-type Pokémon; Clauncher, a Water-type Pokémon; and Talonflame, a Flying/Fire type Pokémon, who is the evolved form of Fletchling.
Finally, the world wide release date for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y was revealed as October 12th, 2013. With all the news that surfacing, it's safe to say that more information will be flying out of GameFreak and Nintendo in the coming months as they gear up for the big release.
