Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII's release date for the United States and Europe has been set, but at a later date than expected. Lightning Returns will be available in the US February 11, 2014 while Europe will be able to play the game on the 14th of February.
Lightning Returns was originally slated for a 2013 release, but there has yet to be any explanation as to why for the delay. Japan, on the other hand, will be able to enjoy Lightning's final adventure November 21 of this year with the option of an Ultimate Box edition. Titled Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Ultimate Box, this edition of the game include all three games of the XIII saga, selection from each games soundtrack, an art book, and a Play Arts figurine of Lightning in her Returns garb. This behemoth is priced at 26,000 yen, roughly $262.
While the delay of Lightning Returns is unexpected, perhaps Square Enix will give their reason at E3 this month alongside some new announcements.
