Following accusations that Nintendo aren't showing enough innovation, the company has teased a new franchise for 2014.
The tease came via Shigeru Miyamoto, who's now a senior managing director at the company. He was speaking to Japanese magazine Famitsu when he said "We'll have Mario Kart 8 out next spring, and at that point we'll have the whole line-up in place, so I think it's about time we brought out a new franchise."
This will come as great news for fans of Nintendo, as it means we could well see another interesting character to add to Nintendo's already swelling roster. It also takes the reliance off of the Mario franchise.
When pushed, Miyamoto refused to comment any further about this rogue franchise, saying "I can't give out details, but that's the title that's been keeping me pretty busy lately."
At this point, it could be for either the Nintendo Wii U or the Nintendo 3DS, but with their home console flagging a bit, a strong new franchise could help to spur sales.
