Phil Rogers, general manager of Square Enix Europe & America, just confirmed on Square Enix's official blog that the sequel to Tomb Raider is in development. This new adventure will hit the next generation consoles, PS4 and Xbox One.
On the blog, Rogers talked about the company's recent financial troubles, restructuring and titles in development. "Square Enix is in production with a number of next generation projects, including Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III, which were announced at this year's E3, and Thief coming in 2014. I am also excited to reveal that we are well into development on a next-generation Tomb Raider sequel. In the future, we'll offer gamers more choice, support more platforms and try new things "“ but we will make sure that whatever the platform, we'll always keep our focus on raising the quality bar. We feel that is what gamers should expect from a Square Enix game."
The sequel had already been hinted one week ago by the author of the new Tomb Raider comic series, and according to the author, the comic series will bridge the gap between the two games. No details or a possible release date were revealed.
