Pokémon X And Y Introduces Online Storage

During a Pokémon themed Nintendo Direct, an announcement was made concerning the storage of players' Pokémon. The announcement was a new feature named Pokémon Bank, a cloud-based storage system.

The Pokémon Bank acts very much like the PC storage system of the previous games. With the Pokémon Bank's limit at 100 boxes, players can store a total of 3,000 Pokémon. Because of the large max capacity, there are various search options that can be used to find a specific Pokémon such as its Type.

The Pokémon Bank will also serve as a means to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Black and White and Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 by downloading another app called Poké Transporter. Once the Pokémon of the older titles have been sent into the Bank via 3DS, they can be pulled out into Pokémon X or Y using the Poké Transporter.

While these two features are a great service to players, the Pokémon Bank does require a annual fee. However, pricing has yet to be revealed at this moment.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y release globally October 12th on the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS.
