EA Explains Why Need For Speed: Rivals Is Skipping Wii U

EA has shed some light on why Need for Speed: Rivals is releasing on every current and next-generation platform apart from the Nintendo Wii U.

It comes down to numbers for the publisher, as they explained that despite putting extra time and effort into it, Need for Speed: Most Wanted sold poorly on the Wii U and EA couldn't take the risk with Rivals.

"We did a load of extra work on the Wii U version, and we had a lot of guys working on that stuff," said Craig Sullivan, the game's creative director. "It didn't really sell that many, in terms of the Wii U market. I would love for it to have, because we put so much effort into that, trust me."

Need for Speed: Rivals will be releasing on the 22nd of November for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. However, due to the slightly later launch of the PS4, it will be releasing on the 29th of November on that platform.
