Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has been a huge success since it launched at the end of August. At the time, it set records for the number of people taking part in the open beta and this has turned into a huge amount of users now playing the game.
Indeed, Final Fantasy XIV has now surpassed the milestone of having 1.5 million users, a very good achievement for any subscription-based MMO.
To keep the momentum going, Square Enix has been very good with communicating with the community. They've been keeping everyone informed of what's coming in Final Fantasy XIV patch 2.1 and it's great to see. It will add loads of new stuff, including more end game content and even houses for Free Companies to chill out and make their own.
It all points to Square Enix successfully turning around the fortunes of Final Fantasy XIV, which had a disastrous launch back in 2010. And with the launch of the game on the PS3 and future launch on the PS4, the player base will surely continue to expand.
