In the latest edition of "Letter from the Producer", a medium through which Naoki Yoshida gives feedback to the Final Fantasy XIV community, he confirmed that Bards will be toned down in future updates.
When referencing specific class adjustments, Yoshida stated "We currently feel that the bards are a little too strong due to the amount of damage they can do without being impacted that much from the fight."
Yoshida also made a note about melee DPS classes, such as WAR and DRG, will be adjusted to allow them to deal more damage. At present, they have to dodge too many attacks, which diminishes their damage dealing potential.
Patch 2.1 is the next major change with Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Not only will there be class adjustments, but the team at Square Enix are also looking to add tons of new content. This includes the Crystal Tower dungeon, as well as houses.
There's no current planned release date for Patch 2.1, but it should arrive in the next few months. Then, Square Enix will likely turn their focus on to Patch 2.2 and the PS4 beta, which is set to start in February, 2014.
