Two days after its global launch, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y have sold over 4 million units. Not content with only revealing sales figures of the game, Nintendo also announced that Pokémon X and Y are the fastest selling 3DS games since the system made its debut.

Further patting themselves on the back, Nintendo took this opportunity to share the lifetime sales of some of the other Pokémon titles. Starting with Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, the lifetime sales of these remakes are 12 million units. HeartGold and SoulSilver sold a total 12.67 million units, Pokémon Black and White sold 15.42 million units, Ruby and Sapphire sold 16.22, and Diamond and Pearl have sold a staggering 17.63 million units, the most of any Pokémon game.

With the amount of ongoing Pokémon X and Y sales and the ever gaining popularity of the 3DS, it could be that Pokémon X and Y will be the greatest selling Pokémon game of the entire franchise. Stay tuned for our upcoming review of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.
