Cross-game Party Chat was probably the most demanded feature by gamers in this generation, unfortunately, this feature never made it to the PS3. Microsoft and Sony have listened to their fans, and both have confirmed that their next consoles, Xbox One and PS4, respectively, will feature Party Voice Chat up to 8 players.

This announcement was made via the Official PlayStation Blog, with Sid Shuman, Director of Social Media PlayStation, saying "Parties Conversations Voice support up to 8 people in the PS4 as the PS Vita." Players on the PS4 will also be able to participate in Party Voice Chat with PS Vita players and vice versa.

As for the Xbox One, a Microsoft representive revealed to Game Informer that the Xbox One will also feature Party Voice Chat up to 8 people. In addition, this representive hinted the possibility that this limit of people might increase after launch.

The Xbox One is scheduled to release on the 22nd of November in 13 countries, arriving in the rest of the world in 2014. The PS4 will be released on the 15th of November in North America, arriving at Europe two weeks later, on the 29th of November.
