Last month, Jim Ryan, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, revealed that Sony was considering a PS4 and PS Vita bundle, but no more details were revealed at the time. During the Eurogamer Expo event, Official PlayStation Magazine had the chance to ask a few questions to Fergal Gara, Sony's UK VP and MD, including questions regarding the bundle.
When asked if Sony was going to release a PS4 and PS Vita bundle, Gara replied by saying that Sony doesn't have any plans to release the bundle at the moment, but added that the prospect is "becoming more real by the week." However, Gara revealed that Sony discusses the bundles with their retail partners, and instead of releasing an official PS4 and PS Vita bundle, Sony will work with retailers to offer gamers a "soft bundle" incluiding various items.
"Right now, as I sit here today, we're not producing a box that fits a PS4 and PS Vita in that one box. We we could probably change our mind in the morning and still have it ready for launch to be honest so it's not a big decision. At the moment [we're sitting] sat down with our retail partners discussing exactly what they want the PS4 launch pack to look like. And its very easy for us to work with them and say looks lets create a package that contains PS Plus, Killzone Shadow Fall, PS Vita, PS4, shall we do that?" said Gara.
Gara also added that Sony is still "in the planning phase," so it's too early to say "yes" or "no" to the PS4 and PS Vita bundle, but the concept is becoming more real by the week.
Last week, six new bundles were revealed, including the bundle with Killzone: Shadow Fall, two DualShock 4 and a PlayStation Camera. The PS4 will be released on the 15th of November in North America, arriving at Europe two weeks later, on the 29th of November.
