Sony Expects To Sell 3 Million PS4 By Years-End

With less than 24 hours before the PS4's launch, Sony revealed to be confident about the PS4's sales numbers. Jack Tretton, president and chief executive officer of Sony U.S. division, revealed that the company estimates that 3 million PS4 will be sold by years-end, and 5 million units by March 2014.

"This is a marathon, not a sprint, but getting out to a nice start is a good thing. That hurdle has been cleared. We're very, very confident we're in great shape," said Tretton. "We're very comfortable with it. I'm excited about next week to be able to talk about what was sold as opposed to what we may sell."

Based on Tretton's words, it's safe to assume that Sony learned from the PS3's mistakes, in which the company had supply problems at launch, which slowed down the console's sales. The PS4 will be released on the 15th of November in North America, arriving in Europe two weeks later, on the 29th of November.
