Despite the PS4 releasing before the Xbox One (in North America), and the fact that polls are suggesting that gamers prefer the PS4 over the Xbox One, Microsoft believes that their next console will be the most successful of the two.
Craig Flannagan, Microsoft Canada's Xbox director of marketing, has told GamesIndustry that the Xbox One will start ahead of the PS4, and it will stay like that for a decade.
Flannagan stated that this is Microsoft's biggest launch, with the Xbox One's pre-orders nearly doubling the Xbox 360's, and added that Xbox One's social integration will give it the edge over its competitors. "Xbox One is going to start ahead, in terms of the experience we can deliver, and because we're built for the future, we're going to stay ahead," said Flannagan.
"I think there is not a better experience you can buy this holiday, and there will not be a time this generation where there's a better experience you can buy than Xbox One... And it's probably going to be a pretty long generation. We're probably here for a while because we're built for the future. This is a console that will last you, conservatively a decade, if I had to put a bet down today."
The Xbox One is scheduled to release on the 22nd of November in 13 countries, arriving in the rest of the world in 2014. The PS4 will be released on the 15th of November in North America, arriving at Europe two weeks later, on the 29th of November.
