Kaz Hirai has stated that there is considerable demand for the PS4 in Japan, while also highlighting the success of the console's launch in the West.
Hirai, who was talking to Japanese business website SankeiBiz about the launch of the platform (courtesy of DualShockers), started off by saying "As for the sales situation in the West, it's the fastest of PlayStation History. We were able to send units before the launch to ensure stock was good."
He then moved onto the upcoming Japanese launch of the system, stating "In Japan we'll launch in February this year and we're already accepting preorders. There's considerable demand."
In an interesting move, Sony decided to delay the Japanese release of the PS4. This is quite an unorthodox move, as the console released in other major Asian nations in December, and Japan has previously been the initial point of release for Sony's consoles.
Expect to hear more from Kaz Hirai on the PS4 soon, as he's doing a keynote speech at this year's CES on Tuesday.
