Sony has announced plans to take down online multiplayer servers for Gran Turismo 5, as well as all of the Resistance franchise.
All four of the titles were published by Sony Computer Entertainment, with the Resistance franchise being developed by Insomniac Games and Gran Turismo 5 by Polyphony Digital.
Resistance: Fall of Man, Resistance 2 and Resistance 3 will all be taken offline on the 28th of March, while Gran Turismo 5's servers will be taken offline on the 20th of May.
As of the 28th of January, servers will also be taken offline for MAG, SOCOM: Special Forces and SOCOM: Confrontation.
In short, if you haven't had a chance to grab trophies yet for MAG, Resistance 2 and Resistance 3, your time is running out. Likewise, if you want to experience some online racing with Gran Turismo 5, you had better get in there fast.
On a slightly positive, but also cynical note, you will still be able to play Gran Turismo 6 online. This title released on the PS3 last month. However, there are no recent Resistance titles on the PS3 and MAG, SOCOM: Special Forces and SOCOM: Confrontation have seen their player bases diminish considerably since their launch a few years ago.
Are you still playing any of these games online? Let us know in the comments.
