EA Sports has announced that a World Cup update will be coming to FIFA 14 Ultimate Team across all platforms. In addition, a World Cup mode will also be added for the PS4 and Xbox One versions.

Entitled FIFA 14 Ultimate Team: World Cup, this mode will give players the chance to build their own teams by obtaining players from the 32 National Teams that will take part in the World Cup Finals. Players will be able to obtain new players by purchasing packs from the World Cup Store, which in addition to players from the World Cup it will also include a Gold Pack. This pack can be used on the regular FIFA 14 Ultimate Team mode.

With the official 2014 FIFA World Cup game not coming to next-gen consoles, EA Sports decided to compensate players by adding the FIFA World Cup Kick Off mode to FIFA 14. This mode will feature the 32 National teams competing in the World Cup as well as the official match ball. However, despite the inclusion of the teams, no tournament mode was added, which means that these teams will ony be playble in friendly matches.

Both updates will be available for free on the 29th of May.
