Developed by The Game Bakers, Squids Odyssey will be the first cross-buy game for the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. However, there are a couple of catches that gamers should be aware of.
The first is that the cross-buy only applies if Squids Odyssey is bought on 3DS. Gamers can not get a free 3DS version of the game if they choose to purchase it on the Wii U. The second catch is that this cross-buy deal only applies to Europe. Other regions, including North America, will not be able to cross-buy the indie RPG.
The Game Bakers stated that they regret the cross-buy's current limitations, but that they were pleased that Nintendo of Europe contacted them to make the offer. Nintendo did not provide an explanation as to why cross-buy applies only when buying the 3DS version of Squids Odyssey, nor did they say why other regions will not be able to take hold of the offer.
Squids Odyssey is out now on both platforms and promises a colorful, undersea adventure with over 90 levels and 15 hours of gameplay along with four playable classes.
