Nintendo Celebrates 100 Million Global Pokémon Trades, Distributes Fancy Pattern Vivillon

Back in late May, the Pokémon Company announced that over 90 million trades had been made using the Global Trade Station from Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, and that once 100 million trades had been made they would celebrate with a special Pokémon distribution. As of today, that number has been reached and The Pokémon Company has distributed their special, exclusive Pokémon: Fancy Pattern Vivillon.

The unique pattern on this Vivillon's wings are light pink towards the body, but change to a green pattern towards the end of its wings, with black highlights on the tips and sides. Towards the top of the wings are three flower shapes. They are red, white, and purple with one scale of yellow in the middle.

Vivillon is distributed at Level 12 with his highest stats, Special Attack and Speed, both at 29. This Bug and Flying Type comes with the moves Gust, Light Screen, Struggle Bug, and Hold Hands. Hold Hands doesn't seem to have any actual effects in battle, but it's rather adorable. It's also a move exclusive to Vivillon.

To acquire Fancy Pattern Vivillon, start your copy of Pokémon X or Pokémon Y with the Wi-Fi turned on and select Mystery Gift from the Main Menu. Select Receive Gift and Get Via Internet for the Pokémon to be sent to your game. Once this is done, start the game and talk to the delivery girl in the Pokémon Center to receive your special Vivillon.

Since their November 2013 release, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y have sold over 11 million copies and are considered the best selling Nintendo 3DS titles to date.
