Seeing the value of the Oculus Rift DK2, some who pre-ordered the dev kits took it upon themselves to list the device on eBay for anywhere up to five thousand dollars. Not amused with the decision, Oculus VR is taking measures against these individuals.
It was actually the Oculus Rift community who brought the matter to Oculus VR's attention. The company's community manager explained that once the behavior was brought to their attention they performed their own research before taking action against the eBay sellers. In order to combat this behavior, Oculus VR has ended multiple orders of the DK2 units and will cancel the order of any individual who lists their Oculus Rift DK2 for sale on eBay.
The community manager thanked everyone who pitched in to find profiteers and assured them that Oculus VR would do it's best to stop profiteering and ensure that the Oculus Rift DK2s made their way into the hands of developers.
