The Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. will allow players to experience an 8-player mode for the first time in the series, Nintendo has announced during Nintendo Direct. Nintendo also took this opportunity to reveal some of the new sections in the game.
According to Nintendo, players will only be able to play this mode on certain stages, which were created specifically to accommodate to the larger numbers of players. Unfortunatelly, this new feature in only available for local multiplayer, which means this mode won't be available to play online.
Other additions to this version of the game include custom stage creation, playing the Wii U version while using the 3DS controlls, and importing fighters from the 3DS version. The last major announcement was that Mewtwo will return as playable character via free DLC, which will be available in Spring 2015.
"Super Smash Bros. fans got a full look today at the unbelievable variety of options and surprises that await them in the Wii U version of the game. Millions of fans around the world already can't get enough of the Nintendo 3DS game, and we want the Wii U version to build on that momentum," said Nintendo's Scott Moffitt.
Super Smash Bros. Wii U launches on the 5th of December in Europe and on the 21st of November in North America.
