With the success of The Last of Us, and despite Naughty Dog's current work on Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, many speculate that early development of The Last of Us' sequel has already begun. In an interview with Gameinformer, Uncharted 4 directors Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann stated that those rumors are false and that Naughty Dog is focusing solely on Uncharted 4.

"We're 110 percent in Uncharted 4 territory now. Blinders on, make this awesome," said Straley when asked about The Last of Us 2 rumours. "We have brainstormed sequel ideas for The Last of Us, and we've brainstormed ideas for new games, but all of that is put on ice right now while we work on Uncharted 4," explained Druckman.

Meanwhile, new Uncharted 4 details have been revealed, confirming multiplayer and many other features. Uncharted 4: A thief's End will launch this fall on PS4.
