After a short wait, the time has finally come for NIS America's release of The Eccentric Family Complete Premium Edition in North America. Available today, this release comes complete with 13 episodes on 2 Blu-ray disks and a full-color 64 page book packed in a high-quality collectable package.

The Eccentric Family takes place in an alternate Kyoto where humans, tanuki, and tengu live side-by-side. For the most part, the story revolves around the Shimogamo family who experience quite a tragic event. The father, Soichiro, used to be the head of the tanuki society, but without warning one day he was made into tanuki stew.

Soichiro was survived by his four sons: Yasaburo, the third son who inherited a rich strain of his great father's "idiot blood"; Yaichiro, the diligent eldest son who has a tough time pulling through in a pinch; Yajiro, the second eldest who secluded himself in a well as a frog; and Yashiro, the timid youngest brother who shows his tanuki tail at the slightest noise. While they each have their unique struggles, their mother is a bit more on the odd side as she is a serious Takarazuka fan with a motto that, "What is fun is good."

While pursuing Benten, a beautiful human woman with divine powers, Yasaburo begins to unravel the mystery behind his father's untimely death as well as the culture of The Friday Fellows and the oddities of the world he lives in. Though he may find himself on the menu as things take a turn for the worst.

The Eccentric Family Complete Premium Edition can be purchased today from select online retailers including Right Stuf, The Anime Corner Store, and NIS America Online Store.
