Sony Computer Entertainment announced today that over 18.5 million PS4 consoles have been sold to customers worldwide. This new milestone was achieved during this holiday season, with over 4.1 million units being sold between the 23rd of November and the 4th of January.
"We are absolutely delighted that so many customers around the globe have continued to select PS4 as their console of choice throughout this holiday season. We will continue to reinforce and deliver additional value on PS4 as the best place to play, by bringing even more exciting content and by enriching our wide array of service offerings," said Andrew House, Sony Computer Entertainment's Group Ceo.
Regarding the console's software, Sony revealed that software sales, including both retail and digital, have reached 81.8 million units. Additionally, over 10.9 million users are now PlayStation Plus subscribers.
Microsoft has yet to reveal any sales figures for this holiday season. Last update on the Xbox One's sales was back in November, when Microsoft revealed that over 10 million units had been shipped to retailers.
