Back in March, Atlus announced that they would be releasing Lost Dimension in North America sometime this summer. The publisher has finalized that release date and has some DLC news to reveal, some of which will be free initially at launch.
In Lost Dimension, an extraterrestrial being literally called "The End" is here to bring about the end of the world. Only a group of 11 psychically gifted warriors - each with unique abilities - are even remotely powerful enough to challenge this madman, but it won't take long for players to discover The End is not their only foe. As the protagonist, players have the extra special gift of psychic visions, a power that reveals that amongst his most trusted allies are traitors working to bring about the apocalypse.
To subdue the threat The End poses to the entire planet, several countries create a special forces group called SEALED, which is comprised of eleven psychics with superhuman abilities. Each soldier has their own talents and skillsets to use in combat, which can be expanded after gaining enough experience in the field. The twist is that if you don't find all of the traitors before the final battle with The End, they'll fight against the main character alongside him. And don't think about looking up the traitors in the guide --- they're picked at random each time you start a new game.
First things first, the North American release date is now set for July 28. For two weeks following the game's release, there will be more than $20 worth of DLC that will be free to download. This will include 9 in-game character costumes, 12 PSN avatars, a map set with an additional story, and three DLC quest sets that can be partaken in for extra experience.
The character costumes are cosmetic-only. The PSN avatars are from each of the 11 heroes and heroines in the game, alongside an avatar for the game's villain, The End. For the quest DLC, they have specialized item bonuses for each character if you get an S-Rank by completion the mission as quickly as possible. And finally, the map pack takes place in a separate location entirely from the main game with five missions total, which explores the creation of the game's central pillar and goes into the history of the 11 heroes and heroines.
In addition to the free DLC, there will also be some paid DLC that will be released following the game's release. There's some 49 cents to 99 cents DLC that are consumable helper items that help raise experience, money and other beneficial stats by providing a passive boost before a battle. The helper items typically aid in combat scenarios. The second are paid status boosters, which range in price from 49 cents to $2.99. They can increase vision points or help restore SAN (sanity) stats in combat, which affects a character's abilities to use skills, even providing a consumable item that levels up all your party members.
Lost Dimension will be released in North America and Europe on July 28 for $39.99 both at retail and digitally in North America. The European release is being handled by NIS America and is set for a Summer 2015 release over in that territory. The PlayStation Vita version will also be PlayStation TV compatible.
