NIS America's upcoming strategy RPG title Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance releases this October, so to get players up to speed with the latest battle mechanics in the title, the publisher has released a new batch of screenshots and slides showcasing those new mechanics.

The sixth home console entry to the legendary Disgaea series tells a tale of revenge, and of rebellion. As a new and terrible Overlord named Void Dark seeks to enslave the countless Netherworlds, one young demon has stood to end his reign—Killia. In Disgaea 5, lead Killia and his tenacious army of rebels on their dark and dangerous path to vengeance. Filled with more over-the-top action and hilarious writing than ever before, Disgaea 5's damage numbers are surely headed for the record books.

The three new battle mechanics are detailed below:

Alliance Attacks: Building on the idea of Team Attacks, the main characters of Disgaea 5 have access to a new attack system called Alliance Attacks which allows them to team up with a specific teammate to deal massive damage!

Revenge Mode: Another new addition to the battle mechanics of the Disgaea series, the Revenge Mode, allows you to power up your characters when their allies take damage or are defeated. Revenge Mode also unlocks powerful new abilities for your characters called Overloads.

Overloads: Each Overlord has a number of unique special skills with completely over-the-top, and awe-inspiring animations to assault your foes. These new attacks can only be used by a character who has entered Revenge Mode.

Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance will be released both physically and digitally in North America on October 6 and in Europe on October 9, exclusively for the PS4 in both regions. For those buying the game in North America, there will be a special Launch Edition available at retail that includes the game, a reversible cover, 32-page art book, and the original soundtrack --- all packed inside a collector's box.
