Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced that the price of monthly and three month PlayStation Plus subscriptions will increase on the 1st of September. Thankfully, the price of an annual subscription will remain the same.
At the moment, one month of PlayStation Plus costs £5.49/€6.99, while a three month subscriptions costs £11.99/€14.99. Although Sony has yet to confirm the price of the monthly subscriptions, an email that has been sent to several users confirms that new pricing of the three month subscriptions is £14.99/€19.99.
"We are dedicated to bringing PlayStation Plus members the best possible service with the most compelling content," said Sony. "From 1st September 2015 we will be increasing the price of monthly and three month PlayStation Plus subscriptions in line with market conditions. We will continue to invest in PS Plus to ensure an unparalleled experience, featuring the best quality games and features."
PlayStation Plus currently is necessary for players to play online with their friends on PS4 and use the console's Share Play feature, while also granting players access to cloud storage for game saves, over 70 free games a year, and discounts.
It remains unknown if Sony has any plans to increase the price of PlayStation Plus on other countries outside Europe.
