With Hideo Kojima most likely leaving Konami, many fans wonder what the future may hold for the future of the series, but Konami might just have the answer to that question. Speaking in an interview with Game On Daily, Konami's Community Manager Graham Day talked about the future of the series after Kojima's alleged departure from Konami.
Day explained that Konami had already said in the past that Metal Gear will continue to exist, adding that this will happen even without Hideo Kojima. "Yeah, course it can [continue]. Metal Gear is about the story, it's about the characters and I think, yeah," said Day.
"Look at things like Metal Gear Rising. That was an example of the title being taken in a new direction by separate teams with obviously hands-in from other parties. And that was in itself a very, very good game as well, and that was obviously led by a completely different team."
In addition, regarding the rumor that Konami had cease development of AAA games for consoles, Day has confirmed that these rumours are false and that the company is still committed to console gaming. "Don't believe everything you read in the press. That's never changed. Things have been taken out of context but that's never changed," he explained. "Konami has a history of making the best games around and that is something that will continue. That won't change anything going forward."
