A new range of PS2 games are now available to purchase and play on PS4, Sony has announced. After many rumours and leaks, it's now confirmed that the PS4 now supports emulation of PS2 games.
"As we continue our celebration of the PlayStation 20th anniversary, we want to take a look back at the heritage that helped propel us to the brand that we are today," said Sony president Shuhei Yoshida. "PlayStation 2 holds a special place in the hearts of many gamers who have fond memories of playing some of the biggest franchises in gaming."
Despite being PS2 titles, these games, as well others that will be added in the future, support Trophies, Share Play and Remote Play. Regarding presentation, they feature an up-rendered 1080p resolution.
Dark Cloud, Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Rogue Galaxy and The Mark of Kri can now be purchased for $14.99/£11.99/€14.99, while War of the Monsters and Twisted Metal: Black are available for $9.99/£7.99/€9.99. According to Sony, more PS2 games will be added to PlayStation Store on a regular basis, so we can expect more games soon.
