Terraria, the side-scrolling 2D sandbox adventure, will be release worldwide on 3DS next week, on the 10th of December. Initially, the game will only be available in digital format, with a physical release scheduled for early next year.
The 3DS version of Terraria promises to deliver an experience that will serve as an "ideal introduction to the franchise for the young and old player alike". The game will make use of the handheld's touchscreen, offering a more fresh way to play for veterans of the franchise. 4-player multiplayer using Local Play is also going to be supported, with 505 Games teasing that we can expect a few "Nintendo surprises" as well.
Terraria is often described as a combination of Metroid and Minecraft and has received strong reviews from critics. The game was first launched in 2011 for PC, and was later ported to PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, iOS, Android, among other platforms.
Terraria will be available for $19.99/£16.99/€19.99.
