Bethesda has revealed that Doom will run at 1080p and 60fps on PS4 and Xbox One. Billy Khan, Doom's Lead Project Programmer, explained that Bethesda wants to deliver a visually stunning experience and the best-looking game at 1080p/60fps.
"We want players to wonder how DOOM and idTech 6 games can be so visually stunning at 60 frames-per-second at 1080p on all platforms, when other titles cannot even achieve a similar look at 30 frames-per-second," said Khan. "Our goal is to be the best-looking game at 1080p at 60fps.
"idTech 6 allows the artists and designers to quickly decorate the world with fine details. idTech 6's physically based renderer and dynamic lighting system allows our artists to make our characters and environments more realistic and stunning than ever before."
In addition, for the first time in the series, Doom will be 100% uncut when it releases in Germany. "We're pleased the game can be released in its entirety in Germany without the need to edit or change anything," said Pete Hines, Bethesda's marketing executive. "Perhaps not all that surprising given how other titles have been rated there recently, but still a cool thing to see given that Doom and Doom 2 were banned in Germany and were delisted a few years ago."
Doom releases on the 13th of May on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
